Mount Olivet has an established training
plan and has previously acheived recognition as "Investors in People" - a
government sponsored, independently assessed initiative somewhat akin to a
kite-mark for staff development. However, as the cost of regular assessment has tripled and we are confident of our ability to meet the IIP standards we have decided, along with many other businesses, not to renew our accreditation.
The staff at Mount Olivet are at varying
levels in their learning. Most of the care staff are now either qualified or enrolled on an NVQ in
Care. Those who are new recruits receive induction training following a
successful interview and following a three month probationary period are
signed up to commence their NVQ training in care. All new staff are
supervised by seniors when carrying out personal care to residents.
All staff recieve regular manual handling and fire training as well as a range of external courses planned to enhance their skill and professionalism.
