The care we provide is fully comprehensive. We focus our care on the individual and not on their condition so our approach is entirely holistic. We hold regular staff meetings to ensure that we maintain the very highest standards of quality care, and we comply with the 1993 Health and Hygiene standards. We operate a no-smoking policy inside the home, but do accommodate the needs of our residents who smoke.
We understand that incontinence can be a problem for a number of our elderly residents, therefore our staff receive specialist training in this area. Staff trained in the promotion of continence are able to provide residents with dignity and privacy and to give them much needed reassurance. Staff also receive specialist training in areas such as diabetes, Parkinson’s disease and the use of specialised equipment.
At Mount Olivet we have a strong relationship with the local GP practice, although if residents prefer, they can keep their own doctor providing he or she is happy to visit the home on a regular basis. All doctors, dentists and hospital appointments are made by ourselves, including the provision of transport if necessary.
